Explore The Beauty of Vigan!!!

Vigan is a Philippine local region located on the large island of Luzon. It is located in the province of Ilocus Sur. But it is the city of Vigan's own product, the "Vigan Longganisa," that has made the city quite popular among other nearby places. Vigan's Longganisa can be eaten in any way that you want. Aside from eating it straight, some people prefer it as a bread filling. Others think it's great for breakfast with fried eggs and rice. Furthermore, dipping in Ilocos vinegar improves the flavor even more especially with plenty of crushed hot chili and sliced garlic and onions.

Vigan's longganisa was derived from the "Mexican Salami" in the past. According to some sources, the tradition of making this native sausage began during the country's Spanish colonization.
Vigan residents refer to themselves as "Biguenos," and they always greet visitors with warm smiles. They are so proud of their longganisa product that it has been designated as their city's "One Town, One Project" (OTOP). And they have always aimed to be the country's leading producer of longganisa.

Vigan has been celebrating the Longganisa Festival for nearly a decade. It has since become a traditional cultural festival celebrated by the Biguenos on the 25th of January every year. In addition, thousands of locals and foreign visitors usually attend the event. Street dancing and other activities (such as food fairs, carnivals, and arts and crafts exhibits) help promote Vigan's longganisa product, just as they do at other festival celebrations.
